Bonfire night!

Having been away from England for a whole year I'm thoroughly appreciating all the things I took for granted that I missed out on last year - the excitement of the week is Bonfire Night! For the non-Brits who are thoroughly confused by the festival let me explain...
You may have heard of Guy Fawkes who tried to blow up the houses of Parliament back in 1605. Well, we celebrate his failure every year by burning an effigy and setting off fireworks, presumably to show what London would've looked like if he'd succeeded. Makes perfect sense! And in case you were wondering, we don't burn his effigy because he was burnt at the stake. That would be far too linear a thought process. No, he was hanged, drawn and quartered (don't ask) but we can't be fafffed to do that every year and it wouldn't be nearly as fun.
Basically as long as you can do the rhyme, you'll get along just fine at any gathering around the 5th of November
"Remember, remember the 5th of November,
Gunpowder, treason and plot,
I know of no reason why gunpowder treason
Should ever be forgot"
There is more to the rhyme but you'd reveal yourself as a bit of an outsider/geek if you knew it. A bit like knowing more than the first verse of the national anthem! Plus, it gets a bit controversial in the second verse...
